pantone color of the year: radiant orchid.

Each year, Pantone Universe (aka the color authority of the world), chooses the color of the year. This year they announced the color to be none other than Radiant Orchid. All of us makeup lovers were very excited as this color is actually quite wearable for a range of people unlike some previous years. A pink toned purple caters exquisitely to the cosmetic industry as I am sure you can imagine. But how do you wear it? This look shows you how to effortlessly stay on trend, without looking over done or too matchy matchy. The key is to choose one element, lips in this case, to pop with the radiant orchid and then to apply complimentary tones to the other areas of the face. I balanced the orchid lip with a warm gold eye and eggplant liner. Enjoy!

the eyes:

-First begin as always by priming the lid and lower lash line. (Lorac Behind the Scenes Primer)
-Next, sweep a matte mauve shade through the crease to serve as our transition color and offer a hint of purple tone to the eye. (Lorac Pro Palette #Mauve)
-With a flat shader brush, pack a shimmery warm gold to the lid. Be sure to stop at the crease. (Lorac Pro Palette #Gold)
-Then blend out the crease again with a clean blender brush to get rid of any harsh edges.
-To lift the brow, highlight the brow bone with a matte pale pink shadow. (Lorac Pro Palette #Lt.Pink)
-On the inner third of the lid and tear duct apply a shimmery nude color to open the eye. (Lorac Pro Palette #Lt. Bronze)
-With a oval blending brush, apply a matte orchid shade through the crease lightly to make the mauve slightly more vibrant. (Clinque Pop Blush #Plum Pop)
-Line the water line with a purple waterproof kohl liner. (Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal #Purple)
-Take the mauve shade along the lower lash line to blend out the edge of the purple liner. (Lorac Pro Palette #Mauve)
-Skip the lashes for a more day time look.
-Finish off the eyes by adding mascara to the top and bottom lashes. (Diorshow Mascara)

the lips:

-Line the lips with a lilac lip liner. (Jordana Easy Liner for Lips #Silver Lilac)
-Apply a Radiant Orchid shade of lipstick. (Maybelline Vivid Lipstick #Brazen Berry)
-Add a layer of purple gloss for extra shine and dimension. (Maybelline Color Elixir #Vision in Violet)

the cheeks:

-Bronze up the perimeter of the face for warmth to the skin. (Sephora Bora Bora Bronzer)
-Apply a purple/pink toned blush to the cheek bones. (Clinique Cheek Pop #Plum Pop)
-Achieve glowing skin by topping the highest points of the cheeks with a champagne highlight. (MAC Mineralized Skin Finish #Lightscapade)
